Statue of Liberty is a symbol not only of New York but also of an entire America. It is one of the most recognizable sights in the world. It can often be found in scenes of many famous films.
During your stay in New York, the first thing we recommend to do is to have an excursion to the island of the Statue of Liberty. Such an excursion can take you all day, but it’s worth.
The best way to visit the Statue of Liberty is to start the trip by boat from the pierce of the Battery Park. Battery Park is one of the most ancient recreational areas in New York. There are many monuments in this park. The name of the park comes from the Dutch cannon battery, which was located here in the 17th century. This canon battery guarded New Amsterdam (today’s New York) from the ocean side.
You can go from the pierce of the Battery Park not only to the Liberty Island, but also to Staten Island, Ellis Island, Governors Island. Helicopter city observation tours are organized from this spot as well.
It is possible to climb to the pedestal and the crown of the Statue. But to do that you need to purchase the entrance tickets on the official website of the statue in advance. Because there are so many tourists, who also would like to visit the statue. The most difficult thing is to climb to the crown of the statue. To visit this part you need to buy the tickets about 3 months in advance! Can you imagine, how popular it is?
But if you would like just to walk around the statue on the Liberty Island, it is possible to buy the ticket on spot – at the official ticket office near the boarding pierce. Audio guide and the visit to the Statue of Liberty museum on the island are included in the basic price of the ticket.
Pay your attention on the fact that it is better to buy official tickets on the website of the Statue of Liberty or in official ticket office on the territory of the former fortress in Battery Park, at the pier.
You will notice the pointers with the Statue symbol, which will lead you there.
Do not agree to buy unofficial tickets to the statue on your way to the official ticket office. You won’t be able to get to the Liberty island itself with such ticket.
Boat trip to the Statue of Liberty is a true delight! As it offers stunning views of both: the statue itself and Manhattan.
The closer you come to the Statue, the faster beats your heart. After all, this is one of the most famous attractions in the world. People from all over the planet fly to New York to see this statue on their own.
The Statue of Liberty is 93 meters (or 305-foot) high.
It represents a woman personifying freedom. There is a crown on the top of the head with its seven rays; the torch in right hand, a stone tablet in her left hand. The inscription on the tablet (“JULY IV MDCCLXXVI”) means “July 4, 1776 “- date of the adoption of the United States Independence Declaration.

We got the audio guide on the arrival on the island (it was included in the basic ticket price), walked around the statue and listened to some interesting facts about this grandiose construction.
It is possible to visit the museum of the Statue. Here you can watch some short documentary films and see how the Statue of Liberty was built.
